Product Description

Solid Copper Krakens for the Shadow 2 Compact.

Our signature checkering pattern blends function and art into a grip that encourages proper fundamentals and techniques. Inspired by the tentacles of an octopus, each hex features a contoured boss, while the contour of our palm swell design naturally lifts your hands higher into the pistol.

Available in Raw, with an Antique patina, or the Shipwrecked patina.

Weight: 6.2 oz.

Basepads are designed for 15 & 17rd magazines.

Precision machined from 99% pure 110 Copper and hand finished right here in St. Louis, MO.

We use 110 Copper for all of our parts. This grade of copper is 99.99% pure, and provides the best results for the end user. Copper oxidizes as soon as it is exposed to oxygen, and will continue to darken over time. This is what we call our Antique finish, and this oxidizing, or “darkening” will continue to occur throughout the life of the product.

You can sand your grips with fine, 400 grit sandpaper to bring out some brighter colors, as well as using chemicals like Tarn-X to freshen up the grips. However, the oxidation will continue to occur, and your parts will darken over time.

If you bought your parts raw and would like to Antique or Shipwreck them yourself, you will need:

Ammonia

White Vinegar

Kosher Salt

To antique your parts, simply seal them in a container with ammonia, and let them sit for 24 hours. Do not pour the ammonia on, just place them in a sealed container with some ammonia in a cup or something similar.

To Shipwreck your parts, follow the above directions, but this time, drip your vinegar on the actual parts and follow up with sprinkling some salt. Then seal up the container and let sit until it reaches the desired color. After that, remove the parts from the container and let dry. Once dry, take fine grit sandpaper and touch them up however you would like.

*Due to variations in frames and manufacturers over the years, some aftermarket parts may require fitting. We always suggest the services of a qualified gunsmith. Anodizing is an electrochemical process which forms a protective layer of oxide around aluminum parts. The colors produced by this process can vary from batch-to-batch, and even part-to-part. Lighting, angles of photos, and even the type of screen the photo is being viewed on can impact what the colors look like. We do our best to give you the most accurate and consistent colors we can, and thank you for understanding slight variations.

    Solid Copper Krakens

Posted by Drew Unger on Sep 19th 2024

I already had a set of solid brass aggressive grips for my S2C that I absolutely loved, but when Vytal ran a sale, I knew I wanted to order the Solid Copper Krakens I'd been eyeing because aesthetically, Vytal is making the best looking grips on the market--without question. I would say the shipwreck style is an acquired taste, but that’s because they “acquired” my extreme envy the very first time I ever saw them online. Needless to say, the brass grips are going up for sale and the Vytals are here to stay. The weight is perfect and my scale has them as heavier than the competitor’s brass grips, which is not immediately apparent between the two sites. Visually, they are stunning, and in my average size hands the palm swell feels tremendous and exceptionally contoured. Before I held them, I would have said the more aggressive grip texture would have held my interest but weight and style came away with the resounding win. If Vytal offered the Accupunctures in Solid Copper for the S2C, I’d buy those even raw without the shipwreck finish, but of all the grips that exist in the world right now for the S2C, these are unequivocally the best in my opinion. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
